Independence Fest 2017 is set for Tuesday, July 4, and will continue to build on the success of previous years with a full day of fun for residents of all ages. The day begins with the annual Children’s Parade, where decorated bikes, trikes, wagons, and strollers will parade a short route to the LISD School Administration Building (1800 Timber Creek Rd.), to enjoy hot dogs, drinks, kids activities, and live entertainment at the FREE Kid’s Zone! The Children’s Parade begins at 9:30 a.m. at the corner of Eaton and Timber Creek Road with the parade starting promptly at 10 a.m. The parade is open to all who may wish to take part (non-motorized vehicles only).

At 5 p.m. gates open at Bakersfield Park (1201 Duncan Lane) where residents can enjoy food, local vendors, and a vintage car show, in addition to several live performances. A.A. Bottom, a Texas Bluesy Southern and Classic Rock group, takes the stage at 5 p.m., followed by crowd favorite, Le Freak at 6:15 p.m., who prides themselves in high-energy performances, and the self-proclaimed title of the “greatest Disco band in the world.” This year’s headlining performance begins at 8:15 p.m., and the Town is thrilled to welcome two-time GRAMMY nominated country duo, Brothers Osborne. These siblings are carving their own path in country music, calling their style “an old-school rock approach”, pulling from influences like the Allman Brothers. Perfecting their sound while touring with big names like Eric Church, Little Big Town, and Miranda Lambert, Brothers Osborne continues to climb the country charts with songs like “Stay a Little Longer”, “Rum”, “21 Summer”, and “It Ain’t My Fault”.

The full day of family-friendly fun is capped off by one of the largest fireworks displays in North Texas, beginning just before 10 p.m.

Please remember there is no on-site parking, however free shuttle services are available. Help us make this year’s celebration even bigger than last year’s record setting 25,000 person attendance, and don’t forget, as always, Independence Fest is completely FREE.
